Megalethoscopes

In 1861 Ponti sent a technical paper on his new invention to the Societe Francaise de Photograghie in Paris. He received a patent for the Megalethoscope on July 10 1862. It was a most unique device. A photo is slid into the back. By directing light onto the front of the photo with mirrors inside the doors you get a daytime view of the photo. By lighting the rear of the photo you get a night view.
